SLS Audio's, Line Array Simulation Software (LASSTM) now includes an “optimizations” module that dramatically reduces the time required for line array configuration and rigging parameters design. The optimization feature also simplifies the entire process and can produce dependable results even if the user does not have previous experience with line arrays and their complex radiation patterns.
 
With common, known, input parameters such as SLS model numbers, approximate number of boxes in the array, total vertical coverage angle based on the system’s height, system position and listening area being entered, the LASS program can optimize the number of boxes and proper splay angles between each of the boxes maximizing coverage, thereby eliminating guess work and facilitating effective design. A large number of field tests have confirmed that “progressive splay” patterns have produced the best overall results. LASS intuitively implements the progressive splay algorithm for optimization.

Since optimization criteria is based on minimum SPL deviation throughout the listening area, the number of boxes can be fixed by the designer, allowing unique project budget and size constraints to be factored in the overall design consideration. The user may also opt to portray max SPL levels displayed over the entire listening area. Both max SPL as well as SPL deviation can be depicted in several chosen octave frequency bands enabling the designer to more accurately specify proper speaker models.
 
The accuracy of LASS predictions have been confirmed and proven by real measurements and critical listening sessions in many installations.
